Upgraded RAM 512MB - 2GB. Though sacrificed RAM speed 3200 - 2700. Will this affect my gaming badly?

I knew my PC was slowing somewhat so RAM seemed a good cost effective way to get things kicked started again. Reason i went down on speed was simply budget. Have heard so many people say that size over speed is more important and that speed only works on an increase of about 5% - 10% when stepping up to next higher speed module. I have a Aopen EZ915-T pentium 4 processor by the way. Thanks!
